4 Week Course

Okay, here it is, the class for the serious trainer that wants really great ring performance. There is to be no crying, no whining, no weak knees allowed! You may want to have chocolate, wine and a good sense of humor and humility available to take this class. If you want 5 minutes of great ring performance, with a happy, eager to work dog, then here is your class! If you want 10 minutes, that is fine as well. Your dog will tell you exactly where you are in your training, no ifs, ands or buts about it. Every week we will work on getting better and better reliability on the behaviors we want to take into the ring.

This course is a self study course. All lecture material is available.

Dogs in Action spots should have behaviors that are ready to chain, or chains that are ready to chain together. This is not a class to start teaching something; this is a class for putting together your performance. If it sounds tough, it is, wonderful ring performance is not by chance, it is by hard work and practice. Sound good to you? Let’s get training!

Week 1: What you got? What do you want? How to get from “here” to “there”, the core of interval training.

Week 2: Next steps, how to increase duration between reinforcements. Why the dog is always right. Biggest pitfall in doing intervals.

Week 3: On the road with your interval. How to handle mistakes. Why mistakes can be your friend not your foe.

Week 4: Ring ready? How to assess your dog’s readiness and YOUR readiness, why the team has to be well prepared.
